Description
From the Lyricist
A subway sanctuary of soft strings and strong souls. A single violin and prayerful supplication of a young woman offering solace and safety to shattered lives hidden in secret. It is here, that the Spirit of God and the spirit of humanity embrace each other with hope. The image in this subterranean hideaway is stunning. I was inspired by the media coverage of music that has the power to still the savage beasts of war. Here, horror rages above. Below is a safe, abiding place. A soft song. To strength frightened, weary hearts. Above, instruments of destruction, bombs and tanks rain down upon a shattered city. Below, something of the Spirit reigns, to softly hold the tears and fears of our silent prayers. Here below in a subway, stands a musician with a violin, an instrument of peace. Soft strings and strong souls both pleading for peace. Here is sacred, serenity. I watched the soft prayers of the human spirit, and the stirring supplication of the violin and was inspired to write this lyric. While wars rage on, there is a sound louder than any blast of destruction. It is the soft, silent strings of violins where the hope of peace is at the center of every human heart. In all circumstance, nothing is ever lacking. God is enough. God sees us through. God brings us through. God whispers to us with soft, reassuring words that all will be well, not matter what. I pray that Jen Wagner’s inspiring choral work will fill you with peace. And that it will bring the sounds of soft violins within Ukraine and in the troubled places of the world as well as within our own hearts. May you find hope and peace in the Softened Strings of Violins.
